participants have a demonstrated potential to be a peacemaking
leader. Participants share a lifelong interest in the project
theme or region to which they are applying. Participants
are open to sharing about spirituality and diversity in wisdom
traditions.

Preprogram Preparation |
Preprogram
access to local information.
A
fundraising kit helps participants pay for the costs of the
program.
An
on-line group mailing list to facilitate introductions.
Participants
prepare to share their personal passions and professional
plans with the other participants (guidelines provided).
Most
participants come with a plan for how they will provide ongoing
service to their chosen community (guidelines provided).

Orientation |
Helps
participants learn about their surroundings and about each
other. We often get to know one another faster and deeper
than neighbors do after a year of living next to each other!

4.

Principles of Leadership |
Throughout
the program, the Global PeaceWorks'
Principles of Leadership are introduced in various contexts
to facilitate learning and practice of service-leadership |

5.
|
Inner Wisdom |
Each
participant has an opportunity to share a story or Scripture
from her tradition. |
|
6.
|
Service |
Every
project is built around humanitarian service to community in
need. We partner with established service organizations to ensure
that we deliver service efficiently and encourage evaluation
of all of our service efforts. |

7.
|
Beauty |
Participants
share artwork, poetry, music, dance and stories with one
another
(guidelines). Most
programs have a participant visual-artist and
musician.
In
addition, each program offers unique opportunities to enjoy
the beauty of the local culture and nature.

8.
|
Ongoing Service |
Opportunities
for ongoing service are provided through introductions for local
school partnerships and introductions to local humanitarian
service groups. The local humanitarian service groups (NGOs)
form the backbone of our development work - we work to support
them. |

9.
|
University |
Every
program has a relationship with a local university. Students
from the university support our work and professors assist
with
learning about the local cultures. |
|
10.
|
Action Driven |
The
last two days of each program is devoted to creating plans
for "what's next" after the project is over.
|
|
11.
|
Reflection |
We
complete each project with reflection time.
Our
final event is a banquet with the local community
and intercultural
entertainment.

12.
|
Follow-up |
Ongoing
networking is built in via the web and regional meetings.
Ongoing coaching and support via chat is also available.
Each
participant receives a CD with detailed contact information,
photos and stories from the project.
