In these times of turmoil and intolerance, especially religious
turmoil, the need of the hour is to knit all religions in the
same fabric. Global PeaceWorks (GPW) is one such international
organization working towards this goal. To help Global PeaceWorks
in India, An Indian organization, Chetanalaya working in the
area has extended support. Global PeaceWorks and Chetanalaya
are together building a multi-religious Community Center in
Welcome Janta Mazdoor colony in East Delhi.
While in Delhi, GPW Director, Eric Wenzel said that rich Indian
culture and heritage can be seen in the communities where people
of different faiths are living together. He said his organization
was making efforts to bridge the gap between followers of various
religions.
GPW’s India chapter director, Khorrum Omer said that
Multi-religious Community Center that is coming up in Janta
Colony is a part of the organization’s program to knit
all religions in a single colorful fabric. He also added that
people from different religions had participated in laying
the foundation of the center.
Anthony David of Chetanalaya said it is important for people
to counter intolerance and walk together. Needless to say that
for the residents of Janta Colony, GPW’s efforts were
a welcome beginning.
